Lauren A. Miceli, Esq., Partner at Arndt, Sutak & Miceli is expanding the Women Lawyers Section of the Middlesex County Bar Association. Read her message to the County Bar Association below!
We are re-energizing our Women Lawyers Section (WLS) and are contacting you because the investment and attention to women’s issues in the practice of law is critically important to the expansion of involvement of female leaders in this Association. Your participation would greatly enhance the value of membership to our newer and younger women members.
We hope to increase the number of active members for those who would like to speak on panels, assist in organizing events, or simply attend an event and network with colleagues. We also welcome suggestions for programs, topics of discussion or networking ideas to engage our members. We ask that you invite, spread the word, and facilitate the growth of this section. We are committed to advancing women’s rights issues in this profession. It starts and ends with us.
To that end, the Section has scheduled two planning meetings, one on Wednesday, July 10th at 12:15pm and the other on Wednesday, August 7th at 3:00 p.m. All are invited to attend. This is your chance to get involved in the bar association and the Section!
The WLS is planning three exciting events this year. We are hosting two nights of Wine and Networking on November 14, 2024, and February 6, 2025, where we hope to re-connect with many of you and connect with new friends. Our “big” event will be held on April 23, 2025, where we will host a program on women’s wellness issues and hope to mix in some CLE credit.
As members of the WLS we also encourage and welcome your participation in the general Bar events. Over the course of the past year we:
- Held a mix of over 70 virtual, hybrid and live CLE programs and events;
- Kept you up-to-date on the latest developments affecting the practice of law;
- Started two (2) new member initiatives (Lawyerline & New Jersey Office Systems);
- Continued our partnerships with Provident Bank and LEAP Legal Software; and
- Continued our monthly volunteer efforts at Elijah’s Promise Soup Kitchen (New Brunswick).
We have a full slate of other live activities already on the calendar, including the Bar Foundation’s Annual Track Outing @ Monmouth Park on July 12, the Beach Bash w/Monmouth Bar at Jenkinson’s Pavilion on July 19 and the MCBA’s Special Reception for new NJSBA President William Mergner on July 25. Also, look out for the “New” Hon. Peter J. Barnes, III, JSC YLC Inn of Court starting on Oct 2.
We hope you will mark your calendars for the events the WLS and MCBA have planned and look forward to networking with you as fellow women and supporters of women in this profession.
If you would like to attend one of the planning meetings, please send a reply to this email or call Jonathan Cowles @ 732.828.3433, x.102.
We hope you can join us!
Very truly yours,
Lauren A. Miceli, Esq.
